Needs Human Review — Shapiro Branch
Five pieces of handwriting read by the family. Four are settled; one reading is being cross-checked. Each item keeps the byte-untouched source image, a readable crop, and a highlighted version together, with any superseded reading shown rather than deleted.
Question: Is the age written for Sroel Wazbord's wife Szeyna, in the same 1811 Volozhin revision-list entry as Movsha David Dubinsky (see F-70), 20 or 26?
Reading: Read by Boruch Berman, 17 Sep 2026: 20. The earlier reread of 26 is superseded.
Movsha David Eliovich Dubinsky's age in the 1816 Volozhin list reads 31 (a faint chance it could be read as 21). The 1811 list also gives 31. The two agree because he died in 1813, and the 1816 list repeats his age from the earlier list. He was born about 1780.
Question: Does the annotation by Itska's son Shaya, age 16, in the 1858 Volozhin revision list (see F-70), read после того умер ("died afterward") or ушел ("left")?
Reading: Boruch Berman, 17 Sep 2026: the word matches ушел ("left"), and the last letter is a script r, the same as the ending on the line below. The earlier reading "после того умер" ("died afterward") is superseded.
Question: Does the blotted annotation by Itska's son Mordukh, age 7, in the 1850 Volozhin revision list (see F-70), give his death year as 1841 or 1847?
Reading: Read by Boruch Berman, 17 Sep 2026: 1847. The blot is above the line, not over the year. 1841 is superseded.
Question: How should the word after "ha-ra'hag Shimon Mordechai" be read and interpreted, on the 1909 Toldot Rabbeinu Chaim mi-Volozhin title page (Vilna, Sh. P. Garber press; author Moshe Shmuel Shmukler)?
Reading: Read by Boruch Berman, 17 Sep 2026: מסמרגאן, "from Smorgon". The earlier letter-shape description is superseded.
